Minister of Defense visited in hospital the military who was wounded in Iraq


Minister of Defense, Teodor Melescanu visited Friday, May 18, at the Central Military Hospital Carol Davila, in Bucharest, the NCO Dan Daniel Porumb, who was wounded in Iraq when an amphibious armored vehicle overturned.

The military is now clinically in a stable condition. NCO Porumb is medically monitored and cared in a post operation assistance program.

After the accident in April 14, 2007 the Romanian military was hospitalized and suffered an operation at Landstudl Hospital, US Ramstein base (Germany) and after that he was transported in Romania.

NCO Porumb acted in the 495th Infantry Battalion deployed in Tallil, Iraq, since February this year.

During the visit, Minister Melescanu was informed by the commander of the Hospital, Brigade General Ioan Sarbu, on the organization, endowment and function of this medical unit.

During the talks, the leaders of the Military Central Hospital Carol Davila stressed on the necessity of the MoD leaders direct support for the improvement of the military medical act, in which the Military Hospital has a fundamental role to play.
