The European Policy of Security and Defense (PESA) represents the EU answer to the threats and risks towards the contemporary security stated Minister of Defense, Teodor Melescanu, Tuesday, May 29, at the opening of the seminar on Reflecting together to the European Security and Defense Dimension.

Minister Melescanu underlined the fact that Romania was the integrand part of this process ever since the initial moments of PESAestablishment.

Ever since the pre-joint time, Romania proved her engagement in supporting this approach, not only by the effective contribution in different theaters of operations where the European Union is engaged, but also by the implication in the debating that led to the initiation of PESA strategic development framework stated Teodor Melescanu.

This occasion, the Defense Minister met the General Director of the Direction of Strategic Affairs of the French Ministry of Defense, Jean de Ponton d'Amencourt.

During the reunion organized at the Military Cercle Palace, by the Directorate for Policy of Defense and Planning of the Romanian Ministry of Defense in cooperation with the Delegation of Strategic Affairs of the French Ministry of Defense they are debating the issues on the process of the European Policy of Security and Defense(PESA) building process, the cooperation within the EU crises management operations, the evolution of security in the Southeastern Europe and the regional security and frontiers.

The participants in this reunion are from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, France, Greece, Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey and Romania.
