Defense Minister of the Republic of Latvia, Jaak Aaviskoo will be in official visit in our country, between July 4 and 5, invited by the Romanian Defense Minister, Teodor Melescanu.

The official talks at the MoD HQ will be focused on the common interest issues on the security of the Black Sea Enlarged Region, the contribution Romania has in countering the terrorism and the increase of the Romanian Latvian military relations.

The two officials will also have talks on the European Policy of Security and Defense (development of European defense capability, EU crisis management operations) and the agenda of NATO Summit 2008 occurring in Bucharest.

The Latvian guest will be received at the Presidential Administration and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will participate to a demonstrative exercise presented by the 21st Mountain Battalion in Predeal.

Wednesday, July 4, at 5.30 p.m. Minister Teodor Melescanu and Minister Jaak Aaviskoo will have press statement at the MoD HQ.
