Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, Europe in visit in Romania

The Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces, Europe (SACEUR) General John CRADDOCK will be in official visit in Romania between July 5 and 6, invited by the Chief of the Romanian General Staff, Admiral Ph.D. Gheorghe Marin.

The program of the visit includes meeting and official talks with the Chief of the General Staff, receives at the Presidency, Government and Ministry of Defense.

NATO's official will deliver a lecture, Friday, July 6, starting 8 a.m. in the Aula of the National University of Defense and will be followed by a press conference at 9 a.m.

During the official talks they will approach the issues on Romania's participation to NATO led operations and the Coalition's operations in Iraq and Afghanistan, the NATO structure of command and forces and the transformation of the Romanian Armed Forces and the international military cooperation.


The Supreme Allied Commander, Europe -SACEUR- is member of NATO Military Committee the Alliance's highest military authority - in charge with establishment of the guiding lines and the leading of NATO operations and military missions. SACEUR is an US officer, in rank of General or similar. SACEUR commands the Supreme Allied Command, Europe (SHAPE) with Headquarters in Casteau, Mons, Belgium.
He is also in charge with military planning, identification and issue of requirements of forces necessary for the entire range of missions, including the promotion of stability, participation to crises management and efficient defense.
SACEUR is named by the President of the United States of America and the nominalization is approved by the North Atlantic Council.
General John CRADDOCK is in this position since December 2006.
