The Swiss Armed Forces commander, in visit in Romania

The commander of the Swiss Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Christophe Keckeis will be in official visit in Romania between July 11 and 12, invited by the Chief of the General Staff, Admiral Ph.D. Gheorghe Marin.

The Swiss delegation will have official meetings and will visit military, cultural and tourist locations.

The Chief of the General Staff and the commander of the Swiss Armed Forces will approach the state of security in the Western Balkans, the process of reform, the modernization and transformation of the two armed forces and the identification of new areas of Romanian-Swiss cooperation.


Lieutenant General Christophe Keckeis was born in April 18, 1945 in Neuchatel. In 1966 he got the professional pilot license and successively held different position in the Swiss Air Forces. Since 2004 he is the Chief of the Swiss Armed Forces. General Keckeis has more then 5,000 hours of fly on different types of fighting airplanes and graduated the Courses of the Air Force Staff Royal College, Bracknell, Great Britain and is master in political science of Lausanne University.
