The Mountain Battalion from Arges received their mission in Afghanistan

The 33rd Mountain Battalion is since yesterday, July 16, under the operational control of the South Regional Command in Afghanistan to fulfill for the future six months the missions in Zabul province.

The commander of the 2nd Joint Operational Command, Lieutenant General Florian Pinta, the commander of the South Regional Command, Major General Jacko Page and the Governor of Zabul province, Del Bar Jan Arman, participated in the ceremony of transfer of authority between the 812th Infantry Battalion Soimii Carpatilor from Bistrita and the 33rd Mountain Battalion Posada from Curtea de Arges, in Lagman camp, Qalat.

The highway 1 is a vital route connecting the second large town, Kandahar with the capital and the rest of the country. The security of this route and Zabul province is a special importance mission for ISAF underlined Major General Page.

Governor Del Bar Jan Arman stated to the Romanian military: You came in Afghanistan to bring peace to the people of my country. To ensure the peace in Afghanistan is of the same importance for our nation as for the entire world, too.

Lieutenant General Florian Pinta thanked to the military from Bistrita for their determination and expressed his trust the Mountain Battalion will also have success. As professionals of the heights, I am sure you will overpass this difficult and important mission.
