The Defense Minister, Teodor Melescanu and the Chief of the General Staff, Admiral Ph.D. Gheorghe Marin will participate Thursday, July 26, in the ceremony of the 32nd Infantry Battalion Mircea from Timisoara leaving in mission in the theater of operations in Iraq.

The Infantrymen will replace the military of the 495th Infantry Battalion Capitan Stefan Soverth who acted since the beginning of the year in Dhi Qar province, South of Iraq.

The 32nd Infantry Battalion Mircea is for the first time participating in an international mission and for the next six months will ensure the security and stability in its area of responsibility, will patrol, guard and secure important objectives and will support the multinational CIMIC projects.
