Minister of Defense, Teodor Melescanu, and Chief of the General Staff, Admiral Ph.D. Gheorghe Marin participated today, August 15, in the celebration of the Day of the Romanian Navy.

President of Romania, Traian Basescu, parliamentarians, presidents of Commissions of Defense of the Romanian Parliament, Cristian Diaconescu and Costica Canacheu, Minister of Internal and Administrative Reform, Cristian David, Minister of Transport, Ludovic Orban, representatives of the Romanian Orthodox Church, and central and local public administration, and NGOs, officers, veterans, officers in reserve and retreat and the public participated in the event.

This year, the 105th year of celebration the Day of the Romanian Navy in the Day of Saint Mary, consisted in military and religious ceremonies, lies of wreaths at the monuments, demonstrative exercises, sailors games and artistic shows in the main maritime and river bays.
