BLACKSEAFOR Group in visit in Constanta

The BLACKSEAFOR ships will visit Constanta Military Bay between August 17 and 21; this stop is the first stage of the 7th activation of the Group.

The Romanian Navy is represented by Contraamiral Horia Macellariu corvette. Also, parts of the Group are: Salihreis frigate (Turkey, the command ship), Smell corvette (Bulgaria), Azov landing ship (Russian Federation) and Slavutich frigate (Ukraine).

The delegations of these ships will be received at the Flotilla Command and the crews will participate in a series of cultural and sport activities and will visit Constanta municipality and the Romanian sea-side.
The BLACKSEAFOR Group conceived as the force acting at request is annually activated to develop common naval exercises with the general aim to contribute to the strengthening of friendship, relations and mutual trust between the Black Sea states and the increase of stability and peace in this region by improving the cooperation and interoperability between the naval forces.

The ships will arrive in Constanta Bay Friday, starting 8 a.m. and at 3 p.m. a press conference will occur on board of Salihreis frigate.

The civilians are allowed to visit the ships of the BLACKSEAFOR Group between August 18 and 19, between 2 and 5.30 p.m.


The command of the Group is ensured according to the protocol, by each of the six Black Sea states: Bulgaria, Georgia, Romania, Russian Federation, Turkey and Ukraine. Commander Levent Gorcec was designated by Turkey to lead the actions on sea and during the visits of the bays.
