Chief of General Staff, Admiral Ph.D. Gheorghe Marin and Chief of the Air Force Staff, Lieutenant General Constantin Croitoru are participating today, August 22, in SOIMUL 2007 combat firing tactical exercise developed in Capu Midia Camp of Training and Shooting Range.

The exercise developed by the 1st Air-Ground Rocket Brigade General Nicolae Dascalescu between August 6 and 26, is conceived based on a complex scenario to train the ground-air rocket sub-units in the same time with the training of the MiG 21 LanceR and IAR 99 SOIM squadrons in the specific air defense missions, according to NATO standards and proceedings.


SOIM 2007 is conceived on few steps. At the end, they will evaluate the training of the personnel, the combat equipment and the launch of ground-air rockets upon the real targets marking the air attack means at low altitude with high speeds.

They will perform real fly missions, training on real air targets, and surveillance of the air space in automatic and non-automatic mode, informational support with radio-location data for aviation actions and real firings with rockets in Capu Midia shooting range.
