Minister of Defense, Teodor Melescanu visited today, August 24, the units and the military education institutions in Pitesti garrison.

During the documentation at the Center of Studies and Preservation of the Military Historical Archives in Pitesti, a special attention was paid to the urgent solve of requests of the citizens, most of them on the acknowledgement and grant of the rights stipulated by the law for the persons who were in the evidence of the MoD subordinated units.

During the talks, the leaders of the unit reported to the Defense Minister that there is a very big volume of remaining requests, about 20 thousands being focused on the re-calculation of retired pays and profits for the personnel who worked within the military structures. About 8 thousands of requests are representing the veteran's problems, documents on award of distinctions and decorations.

To urgently solution all these requests, Minister Teodor Melescanu ensured the leaders of the institution that they will find the way to increase the number of the personnel working in the Archives and increase of founds allocated for the photo-copy and multiplication, and the pass on electronic support of the documents of the archives fond.

During the visit, the delegation headed by the Defense Minister met the staff of the Army School of NCOs and the School of Training for Combat Units Mihai Viteazu and participated in a demonstrative exercise.

The MoD leaders were informed on the development of the process of education and training, the living conditions and the social problems of the students and the professors.
