Romania-Serbian Dialogue at the MoD HQ

The Defense Minister, Teodor Melescanu met today, September 4, with the Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vuk Jeremic, in official visit in Bucharest.

During the talks, the two officials stressed on the very good relations in the defense area and the constant support Romanian is offering to the Republic of Serbia for the cooperation and visibility of relations at the Euro-Atlantic level.

The Defense Minister Teodor Melescanu stressed on the fact that during the Bucharest NATO Summit in 2008, Romania will support the Alliance to give a clear sign for the continuation of the enlargement by the invitation of the states of the Western Balkans.

At his turn, the Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs stated that the access of the Republic of Serbia within the European Union is related to the results of the negotiations on the status of Kosovo province.

In the respect, Teodor Melescanu affirmed that Romania is supervising the situation in Kosovo and supports that a negotiated solution is the best guarantee on long term for the prosperity and stability in the Western Balkans.
