Defense Minister, Teodor Melescanu, received today, October 31, General David McKiernan, commander of the US Army Europe.

The two officials had talks on the cooperation between the Romanian and the US military in the theaters of operations in Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. All over the world where they are acting, we see our Romanian comrades as very powerful allies stated General McKiernan.

Minister Teodor Melescanu appreciated the excellent relations between the two armies and stressed on the common trainings in Babadag and Mihail Kogalniceanu with substantial contribution in increasing the exchange of expertise between the military of the two stats.

At his turn, General McKiernan made the proposal for common training with other armies of other states to be made in the Romanian facilities due to the very good conditions of training.

General McKiernan is in official visit in Romania, invited by Lieutenant General Teodor Frunzeti, chief of the Army Staff and they had a meeting today, October 31, 2007.
