Specialists in medicine and aeronautical psychology met in Bucharest

Minister of Defense, Teodor Melescanu, participated today, November 2, in the opening of the 12th annual Symposium of scientific papers on medicine and aeronautical psychology developed by the National Institute of Aeronautical and Space Medicine General Doctor Aviator Victor Anastasiu from Bucharest.

Addressing to the participants, Teodor Melescanu stated: till recently, the concept of human security during the flight was secondary, the effort being mainly for the technical issues, while the pilots had a secondary role in this equation. The Defense Minister expressed that the work of the specialists in aeronautical medicine and psychology brought again into attention the human being, who is driving the flying equipment, who has to have the ability, the special physical and psychical qualities when using the complex equipment and participating in missions together other pilots from all over the world.

I would like to assure stressed Teodor Melescanu- that the Ministry of Defense is interested in making public the results of the military specialists' work and their implementation in the medical practice and we are going to do what ever possible to ensure the resources for your activity to be done in the optimal conditions. Personally, I think that the scientific research is of a special importance for the development of the military medical system and the expenditure for the human health is not subvention but investment for the future'.

The Symposium, organized by the Society of Aeronautical Medicine from Romania and the National Institute of Aeronautical and Space Medicine with the participation of military and civilian specialists in aeronautical medicine and psychology from our country, will consist in scientific debates, presentations, working sessions on medical specialties for the information and development of the medical practice.

The Romanian Armed Forces stated Georgeta Gavrila, the MoD General Secretary- benefited and still benefit of our specialists in aeronautical and space medicine, our aviators and paratroopers are exemplarily doing their mission, due, to the responsibility the staff of this Institute is performing.

The Center of excellency for the medical activity, the National Institute of Aeronautic and Space Medicine General Doctor Aviator Victor Anastasiu has as the main missions the selection, expertise and maintenance of qualification of the military and civilian aeronautical personnel (pilots, paratroopers) stated the organizer of this event, Colonel Doctor Emil Macri.

Colonel Marci presented the achievements of the Institute he is leading and stressed on the organization of such a Symposium with more then 30 scientific papers in aerospace medicine and primary and special medical assistance, shows the natural integration of the medical assistance in the activity of selection and expertise of the aeronautical personnel.
