Teodor Melescanu met his Slovakian counterpart, Frantisek Kasicky

The Defense Minister, Teodor Melescanu and the military delegation met Monday, November 12, in Bratislava, his Slovakian counterpart, Frantisek Kasicky.

During the official talks, the two Defense Ministers approached the issues on the state of full right membership of the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance that Romania and Slovakia have.

The process of recruitment, acquisitions and modernization of the combat equipment, capacity to generate the forces, the logistic support and funds for missions were the main themes enlisted on the agenda of talks between Melescanu and Kasicky.

We have common concerns, we are confronting with similar problems and that is why we must act together for our future within NATO and the EU stated Minister Teodor Melescanu.

During the two days official visit in the Republic of Slovakia, Minister Melescanu met the president of the Committee for Security and Defense of the Slovakian Parliament, Rudolf Pucik, and the vice PM Robert Kalinak, Minister of Internal.

The military delegation laid a wreath in the Romanian Graveyard in Zvolen, where 11000 Romanian soldiers are buried; they fought in the Second World War for the freedom of Slovakia. In the memory of the Romanian soldiers, they laid wreaths at the Monument that is placed in the Insurrection Place in Banska Bistrica.
