Minister Teodor Melescanu in the Great Britain

Romania is a very valuable partner for the Great Britain, in the missions performed in the theaters of operations and we do appreciate the special effort your country made stated the British State Secretary of Defense, Des Browne, to Minister Teodor Melescanu during the dialogue they had during the official visit in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

At his turn, Minister Teodor Melescanu stressed on the fact that the Romanian military many times acted under the British command not only in external missions but in multinational exercises, too and it was a good opportunity of cooperation, and common training.

The two officials during the talks stressed on the fact that the social problems are the real challenges the two armed forces are confronting with (medical care, necessary of houses, the pension off) and the endowment and combat equipment in the theaters of operations, the specific challenges of the armed forces based on voluntary.

Des Browne underlined the fact that the transformation of NATO is necessary and the governments of member states must be encouraged to generate the rapid intervention forces able to fulfill the combat missions.

During the visit, Minister Melescanu met the State Minister for Defense Equipment and Support, Baroness Ann Taylor de Bolton and delivered a lecture on Looking Forward to NATO Bucharest Summit: The Transformation of the Alliance at the Royal Institute of Studies of Security and Defense, in London.
