George Cristian Maior State Secretary and chief of Department for Euro-Atlantic Integration and Defense Policy received Wednesday October 22, 03 the delegation of the North Atlantic Alliance. The delegation was headed by Frank Boland, director of Planning of Forces and Brigade General Michael Combest, chief of Section of Planning and Requests from NATO's Allied Command for Transformation.
The talks were focused on the main aspects of Romania-NATO consultations developed between October 20 and 22, 03 on the contribution with forces for defining the request on the packet of forces our country is going to contribute for 2005-10 to NATO's missions including the collective defense, too.
This occasion, the leaders of NATO's delegation appreciated the level of the political military cooperation, the evolution of the Romanian Armed Forces reform having in view the future join to the Alliance stressing on the special cooperation proven by the team of negotiators of the Ministry of National Defense.
Maior mentioned that ''the developing philosophy of the Armed Forces is a transforming one as the evolution of NATO is orientated to the capacity of deployment of the flexible and mobile forces able to perform the entire range of NATO missions". In the same time, the State Secretary also precised that the structure of forces set at NATO's disposal "proves to be a relevant construction of Romania in order to shape a strategic and powerful profile within the North Atlantic Alliance".
The visit of NATO delegation enlisted the negotiations between NATO and Romania on the contributions with forces our country will destined to the North Atlantic Alliance as a future member.
