The Minister of Defense, Teodor Melescanu will have an official visit in Turkey between November 26 and 28, invited by his Turkish counterpart, Vecdi Gonul.

Minister Teodor Melescanu will meet the Turkish Minister of Defense, Vecdi Gonul, the chief of the General Staff, General Yasar Buyukanit and will participate in a ceremony of lay of wreath at Ataturk Mausoleum in Ankara.

The agenda of the bilateral talks comprises the topics on the 2008 Bucharest NATO Summit, the evolution of the environment of security in the Western Balkans and the Black Sea enlarged region, the participation in the theaters of operations in Afghanistan and Iraq and the Turkish-Romanian relations of cooperation in defense and policy of defense.

There are also foreseen the visits to the Center of Excellency of Defense against Terrorism and different defense industry facilities. They will also have a meeting with the Romanian military personnel working within Izmir NATO Command.
