Chief of General Staff, Admiral Ph.D. Gheorghe Marin received Monday, November 26, Vice-Admiral Richard K. Gallagher, deputy commander of the US Command Europe, EUCOM, on visit in Romania.

During the meeting, Admiral Ph.D. Gheorghe Marin reviewed the Romanian armed forces participation in operations and international missions stressing on the bilateral cooperation and presented the concerns for the continuation of the process of transformation of the Romanian armed forces, especially in modernization of systems of armament and equipment.

The US guest thanked for the efforts Romania is doing in the theaters of operations and showed the excellent military cooperation between Romania and the United States of America.

The two officials stressed on the necessity to increase the complexity of common exercises and trainings and explored the opportunity to support the formation of trainers.

The talks also aimed the military issues on the 2008 NATO Summit, in Bucharest.

Vice-Admiral Gallagher was received by the State Secretary Corneliu Dobritoiu, chief of Department for Policy of Defense and Planning and by the chief of the Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ph.D. Teodor Frunzeti.
