Romanian Marines' First International Mission

A subunit of the 307th Marine Battalion left for Kosovo on February 25, from Babadag. It is the first international operation that the battalion participates in.
Eighty-six personnel under the command of Major Marius Gheorghescu will join the Romanian National Force Detachment (RoNFD), which is part of the Multinational West Battle Group within the NATO-led mission in Kosovo, KFOR. Together with an Italian detachment, the Romanian marines will execute escort, patrol and traffic control missions for the next six months.
The departure military ceremony was attended by representatives of the Defence Ministry, the Romanian Orthodox Church and of the local administration, besides the soldiers'relatives.
