Hungarian Defence Minister Visiting Romania

The Hungarian Minister of Defence, Imre Szekeres, will pay an official visit to Romania, on March 6, at the invitation of the Romanian Defence Minister Teodor Melescanu.

The official talks will cover topics of common interest regarding the transformation of the North Atlantic Alliance, the coming NATO Summit in Bucharest, the European Security and Defence Policy development, the European Union Battle Groups, participation in international peace support operations, and the fight against terrorism.

The two defence ministers will also discuss the security situation in the Western Balkans and the Wider Black Sea region, as well as military reforms and the bilateral military cooperation.

The Hungarian delegation's programme will include meetings with the chairmen of the Parliamentary Committees for Defence, Public Order and National Security of the Senate and of the Chamber of Deputies.

Ministers melescanu and Szekeres will give press statesmen at the Ministry of Defence headquarters, and will sign the Bilateral Agreement regarding the military cemetries, on March 6, at 1 pm.
