Mrs. Georgeta Elisabeta Ionescu, State Secretary and Chief of Department for Parliamentary Relations and Public Information in the Romanian Ministry of Defence received the visit of Lieutenant General Ivan Yurievici Svida, Chief of Ukrainian Army Staff, on March 25, during the latter's official visit in Romania.

The talks focused on the bilateral military cooperation, the ways of developing common training programmes in the area of military education, as well as the Romania's experience as a NATO member. Lieutenant General Ivan Yurievici Svida expressed his thanks for Romania's support regarding the reform and modernization process in the Ukrainian armed forces, and stressed that hosting the NATO Summit in Bucharest is regarded as a high honour.

General Ivan Yurievici Svida also had a meeting with the Chief of the General Staff, Admiral Gheorghe Marin.

The Ukrainian military official's visit in Romania took place between March 24 27, at the invitation of Lieutenant General Teodor Frunzeti, Chief of the Romanian Army Staff.
