Romanian Ukrain Dialogue

The Romanian Chief of General Staff Admiral Gheorghe Marin had a meeting with the Ukrainian Chief of General Staff, Commander of Ukraine's Armed Forces, General Serghei Kiricenko, on April 15, during the latter's official visit in Romania.

The two military leaders discussed aspects related to the bilateral cooperation and ways to further enhance the relations between the armed forces of the two countries. Admiral Marin briefed the Ukrainian guest on the transformation, modernization and professionalization of the Romanian Armed Forces, and on the experience in the troops' training and participation in international operations.

Generalul Kiricenko was also received by the Romanian Defence Minister, Teodor Melescanu. On that occasion, the Romanian defence minister passed the official invitation to his Ukranian counterpart to come on an official visit to Romania, at a date to be further agreed.

The Ukranian military guest's agenda also includes cuprinde visits to military units and educational institutions as well as wreath laying at the Unknown Soldier's Monument in Park Carol.

General Kiricenko was born on May 4, 1952. He graduated the military school, armored vehicles branch, in 1973. He then filled different positions at all levels of the military hierarchy.
He was appointed in his current position in 2005. He received numerous medals and honours for his special merrits. He is married and has two children.
