The handover ceremony between the 300th Mechanized Infantry Battalion Sfantul Andrei from Galati and the 30th Mountain Battalion Dragoslavele from Campulung Muscel occurred today July 16, in Lagman base, Qalat. This occasion, the Mountain Troops got under the operational control of ISAF Regional Command, South.

General Ivo de Jonge, deputy commander of Regional Command South, Commander Costel Avramescu, chief of Staff of the Joint Operational Command and the representatives of the Afghan military and civilian authorities from Zabul Province were the participants in the event.

General De Jonge thanked to the military from Galati for their effort and the way they performed their six month duty in this theatre of operations and wished good luck to the Mountain troopers in their future mission.

The commander of the 30th Mountain Battalion, Major Virgil Ovidiu Pop, thanked to the military from Galati and in the same time, he expressed his trust in the Battalion' s forces, assuring the allies they will perform their duty at the level of their expectations.

During the ceremony, they had a moment of silent in the memory of all the military killed in action in Afghanistan.
