Ceremony at the Monument of the Heroes of the Air

A military and religious ceremony occasioned by the Day of the Romanian Aviation and Air Force will occur at the Monument of the Heroes of the Air, in Bucharest, between 9 and 9.45 a.m. Sunday, July 20, the day the Orthodox Christians are celebrating the Saint Prophet Ilie Tesviteanul, patron and protector of the braves of the wings.
They will lay wreaths and six IAR 330 SOCAT helicopters from the 90th Air Transport Base and three IAR 99 airplanes form the School of Application of the Romanian Air Force and wings from the Ministry of Interior and Administration Reform and the Romanian Aero-Club will perform the traditional salute on the vertical of the Monument, honoring the heroes of the air.


On the same day, the celebration of the Day of the Romanian Aviation and Air Force will continue at the Museum of Aviation with the History of the Romanian Aeronautics between 1958 and 1970 exhibition; this occasion, Lieutenant General Constantin Croitoru, chief of the Air Force Staff will offer the honorific military distinctions to the military on duty, reserve and retreat.
In the units subordinated to the Air Force Staff they will mark the event by military and religious ceremonies, exhibitions of military equipment and demonstrative flights.
