The fifth edition of the Scout Summer Camp opening festivity will occur Monday, July 28, at 9:30 a.m. at the Navy Academy Mircea cel Batran from Constanta in the presence of the representatives of the Ministry of Defense, Navy, partners and local authorities. The activity is organized by the Information and Public Relations Directorate from the Ministry of Defense in cooperation with the Navy Staff and in partnership with the Youth National Authority and the Euro-Atlantic Association Manfred Worner. The Camp, under the logo Be the best! aims to develop the ideas on the Romanian Armed Forces, to promote the military profession and to set into value the participants' physical abilities, the spirit of competition and team. The Camp program comprises the activities through which the scouts will learn about the Navy equipment and armament and the light Infantry armament. They will also learn the basic elements of marines training with different proceeds of orientation in terrain and survival in special conditions. There will be the applicative-military activities (firing with the air compressed rifle, marine training on different types of boats, launch of grenade, race on obstacle field, military relay race and maritime games), sports (volleyball, handball and football) and visit to military and tourist places in Constanta. The participants, 42 pupils, boys and girls, from Bucharest and Arad County, Arges County, Bacau County, Brasov County, Buzau County, Caras-Severin County, Dambovita County, Gorj County, Neamt County, Olt County, Prahova County, Suceava County, Teleorman County and VAslui County have been selected in a national competition on-line on www.mapn.ro/tabara between February and June 2008.
