NATO Maritime Group One in visit in Romania

The NATO warships from the NATO Maritime Group One in Mediterranean Sea, S.N.M.G. 1, will visit Constanta between August 25 and 29.
SNMG 1 is currently comprised of the Spanish Flagship, SPS Admiral Juan de Bourbon, accompanied by 3 frigates; the German, FGS Lubeck, the Polish, ORP General Kazimierz Pulaski and the US, USS Taylor and will arrive Monday, August 25 at 8 a.m. in Constanta bay. FG Lubeck (Germany), part of the Group, too already arrived on August 22.

During the stop they will visit the Flotilla Headquarters and the local civilian authorities and will have sport activities with the Romanian sailors and visits in Constanta town and the Romanian sea-side.
The Group present commander, Rear-Admiral Juan Rodriguez will deliver a press conference Monday, August 25 between 1 and 1, 30 p.m. on Juan de Borbon board. Friday, August 29, after leaving the bay of Constanta, the S.N.M.G. 1 ships will participate in the common exercises on sea with Regele Ferdinand frigate in the Romanian territorial waters.


The Standing NATO Maritime Group One in Mediterranean Sea, STANAVFORMED, was established in 1967 and since 2005 acts under the present nomination. The Group consists of 8-10 warships, destroyer and frigate class. Every six months the compounds of the Group is changed by rotation, between the NATO member states.
