State Secretary Georgeta Ionescu and chief of the Army Staff, Lieutenant General Teodor Frunzeti, Ph.D. will participate Wednesday, September 24 in the celebration of the 40th anniversary of the 282nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade Unirea Principatelor, from Focsani.
This occasion, the Combat Colors will be decorated, through the Decree of the President of Romania, with Military Virtue with signs of peace in rank of Knight; there a religious ceremony and the parade of the 282nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade with its equipment, will occur, too.
An Anniversary Plaque will be unveiled, too.


The 282nd Mechanized Brigade Unirea Principatelor is continuing the military tradition of the 10th Dorobati Regiment PUTNA and of the 282nd Mechanized Regiment.
Starting January 15, 2001, the 282nd Mechanized Brigade Unirea Principatelor was nominated as the tactical big unit within the Active Forces structure and it started the structural and action operationalization program.
The military, the subunits and the units of the 282nd Mechanized Infantry Brigade Unirea Principatelor have participated in peacekeeping missions in the theatres of operations in the Western Balkans, in Iraq and Afghanistan. The Brigade participated, too in national and international exercises, i.e. Cooperative Determination ‘99, Carpathian Express 2000, 2001 , Smirdan 2002, Wise Fox 2004, DEMEX 2005, ROMEX 2006, ROUEX 07, MILREX 07, Prometheus ‘99 Greece, Amber Hope'99, Peace Shield '99 and 03, Peaceful Star '00 , Cooperative Determination ‘01, Cooperative Nugget ‘02, PEACE SHIELD 2003, EUROASIAN 2004, RAPID TRIDENT 2007.
