Military delegates in the theatre of operations in Iraq

The deputy chief of General Staff, Lieutenant General Mihail Orzeata, Ph.D. headed a military delegation Friday October 24 in the visit to the 341st Infantry Battalion that is deployed in the theatre of operations in Iraq, in Tallil.
On Tallil airport, the Romanian delegation met Brigade General Mihai Chirita, the Coalition deputy director for strategies, plans and evaluation and in the Romanian camp they met Lieutenant Colonel Vasile Vreme, commander of the 341st Infantry Battalion Rechinii albi.
During the briefing, the Battalion officers presented the missions they performed in the about 1400 square km area of responsibility. In the about three months since their arrival, they performed more than 160 missions of patrol and more than 60 force of rapid intervention type missions. The military from this Battalion are acting for the run of seven CIMIC projects of renovation of schools. In the same time, the Romanian sub-units are continuing their program of training for keeping the state of operation. More than 140 military in cooperation with the US partner had different stages of training. The state of mind is good and the military equipment inscribes in the normal function parameters.
The commander of the US 4th Cavalry Brigade, Colonel Philip Battaglia who operationally controls the Romanian Battalion, underlined during the meeting with General Mihail Orzeata that the unit commanded by Lieutenant Colonel Vasile Vreme professionally performs the missions and the Romanian military are well trained. Colonel Battaglia made a presentation of the general state of the area of responsibility and stressed on the very good relations of cooperation with the 10th Iraqi Division.
During the meeting with the local leaders, they appreciated the special relations with the Romanian military and the chief of the provincial reconstruction team, Mrs. Anna Pouser, stressed on the good cooperation with the Battalion personnel.
General Mihail Orzeata, during a ceremony with all the unit personnel, read the Message of the Chief of General Staff occasioned by the celebration of the Day of the Romanian Armed Forces and awarded the distinctions of honor to the military with remarkable achievements in missions.
