USS Mount Whitney ship in Constanta

The USS Mount Whitney command ship of the US Navy will have a stop in Constanta Bay between October 31 and November 4.
The program of the visit comprises a meeting at the Flotilla Command and the talks on the administrative and logistic issues and a search and rescue exercise on the sea in common with a ship of the Romanian Navy.
USS Mount Whitney is commanded by Commander Owen P. Honors, and will accost in the civilian Constanta harbor Friday, October 31, at 9 a.m.


USSS Mount Whitney characteristics: length-189m; width-33m; draught-9m; displacement-18400t; crew-325; maximum speed-23 knots.
Armament: 2 Phalanx CIWS type artillery installations; 2cal.25mm Boeing/Mk 38 Bushmaster type artillery installations
