The Deputy Director for Operations of the Iraq Multinational Coalition visited the Romanian soldiers

In January, 16-19, 2009, the Deputy Director for Operations of the Iraq Multinational Coalition, Brigade General Catalin Tomescu, payed a call to the soldiers from the 341st Infantry Battalion White Sharks, on mission in Iraq.

During the visit, he was informed of the way the resources available are used, the security situation in the area, as well as the new missions for the Romanian military starting January the 1st. At the end, Romania's representative in Iraq, General Catalin Tomescu, handed over certificates of appreciation to 42 military from the battalion, as recognition of their excellent performance in the operational theatre.

I am very proud of the Romanian military contribution in setting up stability and security in the area, stated the Romanian official during his meeting with the US 4th Cavalry Brigade Commander, Colonel Philip Battaglia. They also talked about the new tasks assigned for the Romanian battalion and about the good cooperation it has with the American partner.

Since their deployment in the operational theatre in Iraq, in August 2008, the military from the 341st Infantry Battalion White Sharks have performed over 700 missions in their area of responsibility.
