Informal meeting of NATO Defense Ministers in Cracow

Minister of National Defense, Mihai Stanisoara, participates between February 19 and 20 in the Informal meeting of NATO Defense Ministers in Cracow, Poland.

The Defense Ministers' talks will be focused on the progress made in the Alliance's military capacity transformation, according to the agenda of Bucharest NATO Summit and the last Defense Informal Reunions from London and Budapest.

They will analyze the Alliance's going-on military operations in Afghanistan and the Western Balkans, too.

Meetings at Ministerial level of NATO-Georgia and NATO-Ukraine commissions will occur during the Krakow Reunion in order to deep the dialogue with the two partner states.

The NATO Defense Ministers are officially meeting, usually, three times per year in formal reunions and in two informal reunions. These ones have no fixed agenda and do not imply the official decisions, only representing the Ministers' opportunity to freely discuss the issues enlisted on the Alliance's agenda.

The Cracow meeting is the last Reunion before the Strasbourg/Kehl NATO anniversary Summit, the event marking the 60th anniversary of the North Atlantic Alliance, with an important role in its preparation.
