A new school for the Iraqi children

The militaries from the 26th Infantry Battalion "Neagoe Basarab" also known as "Scorpionii Rosii" performed on March 18 the final evaluation of the works of reconstruction of "Abdul Razak" school from Dhi Qar province - the area of operations of the Romanian militaries acting in the theater of operations in Iraq.
The performed mission is one of the humanitarian assistance missions the Scorpionii Rosii from Craiova are doing in their area of responsibility. The school was renovated at the Romanian militaries' suggestion and offers the necessary space for 100 pupils in six classes adequate for the process of education.
Commander of the 26th Infantry Battalion "Neagoe Basarab", LT. COL. Gabriel Toma, Ph.D., deputy commander of the 4th US Cavalry Brigade, LT.COL. Mark Nelson and the Romanian militaries implied in this project and headed by Captain Bogdan Macovei, specialist in support and humanitarian missions were the participants in this activity.
The reconstruction of "Abudul Razak" school is an important achievement for the "Scorpionii Rosii", thus contributing to the common Romanian and US effort in the South of Iraq and the support and humanitarian mission are part of the missions the Romanians are performing based on the bilateral Memorandum signed in January 2009 between Romania and the Republic of Iraq.
