The Romanian militaries from Iraq inaugurated a school in Ur

The militaries from the 26th Infantry Battalion "Scorpionii Rosii" participated Tuesday, March 31, in the inauguration of Abdul Razak elementary school from Ur, Dhi Qar province.
The humanitarian assistance mission for the Iraqi population from the area of responsibility of the Romanian militaries is part of the bilateral agreement between the Government of the Republic of Iraq and the Government of Romania.
The team was commanded by Captain Bogdan Macovei and Lieutenant Bogdan Gherghe and the participants in this event were the local leaders and the children's parents.
The Romanian militaries, during their visit, distributed the writing materials, toys, boots and sportswear for the football team.
"The six classes of our school will provide the education for about 180 children from the region. We are sure your actions will be not stopped and you will bring joy to other children, too. I thank you in my behalf and in the name of the small pupils, the future beneficiaries of this project" stated Ibrahim Talub, the school manager.
At the end of the action, Captain Macovei talked with the local leaders about the identification and the running on of the new projects of humanitarian assistance in order to develop the region where the Romanian militaries are performing their missions.
