Symposium on NATO's Day

The General Staff organized Thursday, April 2, in the MoND Aula, a symposium dedicated to the NATO's Day.
The activity was opened by Major General Stefan Oprea, Ph.D., deputy chief of General Staff and followed by four speeches on 'Romania's Policy of Defense after Five Years of NATO', 'Romanian Armed Forces' Participation in NATO Led Operations', 'NATO Strategic Concept. Its Role in the Global Security Environment', 'Challenges and Opportunities for NATO in Post Cold War Era'.
The speeches were delivered by Elena Frunzeti, deputy director in the Directorate of Defense Policies from the Department for Defense Policy and Planning, by Lieutenant Colonel Valentin Cheptanariu from the Operations Directorate of the General Staff, by Lieutenant Colonel Liviu Lazar from the Strategic Planning Directorate of the General Staff and Serban Cioculescu, researcher at the Institute of Political Studies of Defense and Military History.

The General Staff, between April 1 and 5, in all the garrisons, organize military ceremonies, symposiums, exhibitions of books on NATO’s Day and on the importance of the quality of membership for Romania.
The military ceremonies will also occur in the theatres of operations where our country has militaries.
The NATO's Day in Romania was established by Law No. 390 from 28.09.2004 and it is celebrated on the first Sunday, every April month.
