The Defense Ministers from Romania and Holland, at the exercise

The Romanian Minister of National Defense, Mihai Stanisoara and the Dutch Minister of Defense, Eimert van Middelkoop, participated Tuesday, April 7, in the Day of Distinguished Visitors of "Cooperative Lion 09" exercise.
The two ministers, during the official meeting and the visit in the exercise area, had talks on the recent evolutions within NATO after the anniversary Strasbourg/Kiel Summit, the elements of the European Policy of Security and Defense and the participation in the international missions. The bilateral military cooperation, an important part of Romania's joint to NATO and EU structures was also made by the Dutch assistance too, granted for the process of reform of the Romanian Armed Forces and to training of the military personnel. The two ministers appreciated the existence of premises for the future, to integrate the activities at the level of services in a multilateral format comprising common training exercises and working groups.


The Day of Distinguished Visitors occurred today in Constanta port and in Rasova. The program of this activity included the visit of the Dutch HNLMS "Johan de Witt" ship, the participation in a crisis management exercise in Rasova and the visit of the naval exhibitions on Constanta port passengers' berth. Civilian and military officials from Romania and Holland, and businessmen from the two countries were the participants in this activity.
