Humaniatrian Mission Conducted by Military Pilots

An AN-26 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force undertook a humanitarian mission, consisting in the transportation of a 12 year-old child from Timisoara to Bucharest, in the morning of May 25.
The child had suffered severe burning over 45 percent of his body and was in a critical condition that required specialized medical care at the Grigore Alexandrescu Children Hospital in Bucharest.
During the flight and the transportation by ambulance to the hospital the child was assisted by doctors of the SMURD Service in Bucharest.
At 1.15 a.m., the aircraft took off from the 90th Air Transport Otopeni Base having onboard a crew under the command of LTC Cristian Balan and a medical crew and returned to Bucharest at 04.30 a.m.
