Admiral Gheorghe Marin was decorated with the US Legion of Merit

The chief of General Staff, Admiral Gheorghe Marin, Ph.D. in his official visit in the United States of America met Thursday, August 6, Admiral Michael Mullen, president of Committee of Joint Chiefs of Staffs.
The two military leaders focused their talks on the bilateral cooperation and the possibility to increase it. They also have talks on the common Romanian-US action in the theaters of operations and the training activities to be developed at all the services level. The two chiefs of Defense approached the present state of security, too.
Admiral Mullen offered the Legion of Merit in rank of Commander to his Romanian counterpart from the president of the United States of America, in a ceremony, for "his special activity as chief of General Staff" and for all he was doing, he "allowed the improve of cooperation, trust and relations between the armed forces of the United States and Romania".
The high distinction was granted to the chief of General Staff for "his efforts to make the Romanian Army a more professional and interoperable one" and for "the remarkable leading capacity and the personal initiative reflecting the trust Admiral Marin, Romanian Armed Forces and Romania are enjoying with".
Admiral Marin till now visited USNORTHCOM, Nellis Air Force Base, and Training School and met General Norton Schwartz, chief of US air Force and deputy director of the US Defense Intelligence Agency.
