The Detachment of special operation forces (RO SOFDET 8) ceremony of leaving for the theater of operations in Afghanistan occurred today, October 1, at the 1st Special Operations Battalion "VULTURII".
The relatives of the soldiers to leave in mission, Brigade General Alexandru Rus, chief of the Department of Operations from the General Staff, Marius Pascan, Prefect of Mures County, Dorin Florea, major of Targu-Murs city, officials and representatives of the structures with attributions in national defense and public order area have participated in this event.

From 2006 about 200 soldiers from the special operation forces of the Romanian Armed Forces have participated in specific missions in the theaters of military operations. They have lost a brother in arms, Major (post mortem) Tiberius Petre, killed in action on April 3, this year during a rapid intervention mission to support an allied subunit.
