Romanian - Polish military talks

Chief of General Staff, Admiral Gheorghe Marin, Ph.D. met on Wednesday, October 8, the chief of General Staff of the Republic of Poland, General Franciszek Gagor in official visit in Romania.
The two leaders approached the bilateral military cooperation, identified the new ways to strengthen and diversify it and had talks on the evolution of the state of security in the Black Sea and the Western Balkans region and the common interest issues from NATO and EU's agenda.
Admiral Marin presented to his counterpart the expertise the Armed Forces have gained in the process of the modernization and transformation, as the NATO and the EU member state, and the Romanian soldiers' participation in international operations and missions.
General Franciszek Gagor was also received by the State Secretary Ionel Aurel Lascu, chief of Armaments Department. The two leaders had talks on the Romanian-Polish military relations in Iraq, especially in UAV and Special Forces and they identified new ways of cooperation in the theater of operations in Afghanistan.
At the end of the meeting, State Secretary Lascu underlined the importance of cooperation between the two Ministers, and the exchange of expertise and common actions in military equipment procurement.
The Polish delegates visited the National Defense University and General Gagor presented the Polish view on the strategic concept of NATO, laid a wreath at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier and participated in a demonstrative exercise that has been performed by the 21st Mountain Battalion from Predeal.
