Supreme sacrifice to save a brother in arms

NCO Catalin Stanciu Scarlat, military trainer from the 01951 military unit Buzau lost his life, Friday, October 23, during the alpine training exercise after saving his pupil and the brother in arms in danger.
The accident occurred at about 10 a.m. when the unit performed in the training field a special training session. His brother in arms' life was saved, after his professional intervention. Serious wounded, he was transported to Buzau county hospital for special treatment.
Immediately after the accident a SMURD team arrived and tried to save the NCO's life, but finally, he died.
The accident is investigated by the representatives of the Military Court and a commission headed by the unit commander.
NCO Catalin Stanciu Scarlat, graduated in 1990, was part of the Army elite unit. Along the years, he trained generations of soldiers for special operations. He was in mission in the theater of operations in Afghanistan between July 2008 and January 2009. He was married and had one child.
