The Mountain Troops to conduct a new mission in Afghanistan

A military ceremony will be organized on Tuesday, January 5 to mark that the 33rd Mountain Battalion "Posada" will leave for a new mission in Afghanistan.The event,organized in the unit base in Curtea de Arges will be attended by the Minister of National Defense, Gabriel Oprea and chief of General Staff, Admiral Gheorghe Marin, Ph.D.
Beside the soldiers' relatives present at the event were the US diplomatic personnel accredited in Bucharest, representatives of the local public administration, war veterans, and military personnel retired or of the reserve.
The troops from Curtea de Arges in their second mission in this theater of operations for six months will act in Zabul province.
The Mountain Troops from Curtea de Arges will take over their mission from the 280th Infantry Battalion from Focsani and their tasks are the achievement of security in their area of responsibility, military operations alongside the Afghan forces, humanitarian operations, patrol and escort of convoys.
