The Air Force Engineer Regiment hosted on Thursday, February 4 the EOD Group's arriving ceremony from the theater of operations from Afghanistan. Major General Ion Aurel Stanciu, chief of the Air Force Staff attended the ceremony and thanked the soldiers for their courage and professionalism shown in missions, thus earning our US partners' trust.
NCO Teodorin Mustata, the Group commander, reported to the chief of the Air Force Staff he carried out the order he received before leaving in mission and he "returned home with all of his soldiers, sound in body and mind, and the mission accomplished".
The families of the EOD troops also participated in the ceremony.


The EOD Group of the Engineer Regiment of the Romanian Air Force consisted of six soldiers and joined the 280th Maneuver Battalion - Focsani that between July 2009 and January 2010 performed the mission of security of the most important part of the A1 highway from Afghanistan.
The soldiers of the EOD Group accomplished about 40 missions of defusing the unexploded ammunition, neutralizing the unexploded improvised devices, draining the shooting ranges and investigating the incidents of security.
Another EOD group of the same structure will accomplish such missions in the theater of operations in Afghanistan, together with the soldiers from the 33rd Mountain Battalion-Curtea de Arges, starting January 28.
