The ceremony marking the return of the 280th Maneuver Battalion takes place on Friday, February 11, at 11 a.m. at the 282nd Mechanized Brigade "Unirea Principatelor" HQ, in the presence of the National Defence Minister Gabriel Oprea; the battalion participated in "ISAF III Task Force Zabul" in Afghanistan.
The soldiers' families, representatives of MoND, active and retired military personnel, representatives of local public authorities are invited to participate in this event.

In their six-month mission (from June 2009 to January 2010) the Romanian soldiers secured roads, important objectives and organized the check points in their area of responsibility in Zabul province.
The soldiers of the 280th Maneuver Battalion accomplished missions in the theaters of operations in Kosovo (November 2002 to October 2003), Iraq (January to July 2006) and Afghanistan (January to July 2004).
