Sergeant Badiceanu Florin was killed on duty and Lance Corporal Zamfir Marian was wounded in Afghanistan on Tuesday, February 23.

The soldiers of the 33rd Maneuver Battalion were conducting a patrol mission on A1 Kandahar-Kabul route. Around 5 a.m. (Romanian time) at about 3 km north-east of Lagman base, the two soldiers on board of an armoured vehicle passed over an improvised explosive device. After the explosion, the five members of the crew were urgently airlifted to the hospital in Lagman base, according to the procedures.
While under medical care and despite the medical staff's efforts,Sergeant Badiceanu Florin died. The Soldier graduated in 2005 and was on his second mission in Afghanistan. He was 31 years old, married with one child.

Lance Corporal Zamfir Marian is still in hospital under medical care.
