Corporal Bida Ionel Eugen, of the 1st battalion-type OMLT, deployed in Zabul Province, Afghanistan was wounded on Wednesday April 7, at about 09.00 hrs. (Romania time).

The NCO was part of a Romanian-Afghan team that was attacked with Infantry fire by insurgents while on a patrol mission 40 km north-west of Qalat, Zabul Province.


Corporal Bida Ionel Eugen was injured in his right leg during the attack. He was immediately transported with a medevac helicopterat the field hospital in Lagman base where he underwent surgery. His condition is stable.

The main responsibility of this OMLT, that started its mission in January this year, is counseling the troops of an Afghan Infantry battalion in Zabul area, in staff and administration matters.
