The Minister of National Defence, Mr. Gabriel Oprea, sent a condolences message to his counterpart, the Minister of Defence of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Bogdan Klich, for the tragedy that took place today in Smolensk.

'Dear Minister, it is with a sense of deep sorrow that I received the news of the tragic loss of the lives of the President of the Republic of Poland, Mr. Lech Kaczynski, his wife, of so many other high officials of the Republic of Poland and its Armed Forces.

I wish to pass to you, in these tragic moments, my personal solidarity and that of the entire Romanian Armed Forces with our comrades of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland, our ally and good friend. Our hearts go to the families distraught with the grief of their loss, whom we wish to send our heartfelt thoughts of deep compassion\" defence minister Gabriel Oprea said in his condolences message.
