The National Office for Heroes` Memory in cooperation with the National Veterans` Association and local public authorities organize military and religious ceremonies dedicated to the Ascension Day and Heroes` Day on Thursday, May 13, in Bucharest and other locations of heroes` memorials.

Two military aircraft formations consisting of three MiG-21 LanceR and three IAR-330 PUMA SOCAT would fly over the Tomb of the Unknown Hero during the ceremony, as a token of respect for the memory of the nation`s heroes.

Heroes` Day was made a national holiday according to European tradition. This year, the event took place at the same time with the celebration of 65 years since the end of WW2. Festivities at home and abroad are organized based on a special program drafted by the National Office for Heroes` Memory and approved by Government Decision No. 453 of May 5, 2010.
