Valerica Leu, promoted post-mortem in rank to 2nd Lieutenant, killed in action in Afghanistan will be brought back home with a Romanian military aircraft on May 14, 16.00 hrs, at the military airport of the 90th Air Base of Otopeni.

Defence Minister Gabriel Oprea and the Chief of General Staff Admiral Gheorghe Marin, will participate in the military and religious ceremony organized at the airport. During the ceremony the defence minister’s order would be read according to which Sergeant Major Valerica Leu was promoted post-mortem to the rank of 2nd Lieutenant.

During the same ceremony the presidential decree will also be read according to which Valerica Leu would be awarded the National Order Steaua Romaniei in grad de Cavaler [Star of Romania, the Knight Rank] for military men, as a token of respect and in recognition of his supreme sacrifice.
