PRESS INFORMATION

The State Secretary for Defence Policy and Planning, Viorel Oancea, heads a delegation that participates in the NATO Defence Ministerial in Brussels, June 10 to 11. The first day’s agenda includes a Reunion of the North-Atlantic Council and a working session of the defence ministers from countries contributing to KFOR mission in Kosovo. The programme includes the NATO-Ukraine Commission, the Nuclear Planning Group and the North-Atlantic Council for missile and nuclear matters.

The second day of the programme includes the reunion of the NATO-Georgia Commission and the meeting of NATO defence ministers with their counterparts in non-NATO countries that contribute to ISAF. The talks will focus on NATO transformation, the command structure included, the resource issue, the New Strategic Concept as well as on missile defence.

The sessions on operational aspects will focus on implementing the transition strategy regarding ISAF, participating in NATO ANA training and the perspectives of the second stage of the transition in the KFOR mission. NATO-Georgia and NATO-Ukraine Commissions will have talks on defence reform and practical contributions to allied operations.
